According to the IV Encuesta Nacional de Percepción Social de la Ciencia y la Tecnología 2008 survey cited in this article at El País, Spanish population is becoming more itnerested in science, compared to the survey carried out in 2006. This is great news for all the groups working on disseminating Science in Society.
According to this survey, youngsters between 15 and 24 years of age are the most interested in Science and technology, Catalonia being the autonomous community with the highest rate of interest in these subjects.
The people interviewed in this occasion think that TV, press and radio don't dedicate enough time to talk about science, so probably this is the reason why the various scientific activities open to general public tend to have such a good acceptance. I hope this shall give us even more energy to work on the next series of Scientific Cafes and on the Open Day, wich are already being organized!
